Help us share the magic of The Stella Effect far and wide! This role may be filled by one Director or shared by two Co-Directors working in partnership. Together, you’ll help shape our voice — from social media and email updates to awareness campaigns and storytelling that highlight the impact of our work. You’ll develop an annual communications plan, share recaps of programs and events, and lead advocacy efforts to bring more visibility to families with Trisomy 13 and 18. Whether you’re writing posts, scheduling newsletters, or keeping our message consistent, you’ll play a key role in connecting families, volunteers, and supporters to our mission.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate to create an annual communications plan and content calendar, with a focus on growing our email subscriber list and improving consistency across newsletters and social media

• Oversee messaging, branding, social media, and email communications, ensuring alignment with our mission and voice

• Coordinate and support content creation and campaign execution from start to finish (with help from board members and volunteers)

• Share program and event recaps through creative storytelling that engages our community

• Lead or support advocacy efforts to bring more visibility to families with Trisomy 13 and 18

The Fundraising & Grants Director helps ensure The Stella Effect has the resources to support families by engaging donors, sponsors, and foundations who care about our mission. You’ll shape our fundraising strategy, lead outreach and campaigns, and manage the grant process from research to reporting. You won’t do it all alone — you’ll work with the board and volunteers to make giving and grant-making feel joyful, purposeful, and sustainable.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead our annual fundraising and grants plan

• Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and foundations

• Research and prioritize mission-aligned grant opportunities

• Lead the full grant lifecycle: writing, submission, compliance, and reporting

• Partner with board/program leads to craft compelling stories and measurable proposals

• Support campaign execution and donor engagement efforts with the help of board members and volunteers

Bring your legal mind and generous heart to our board. The Legal Director helps us navigate nonprofit compliance, review important documents (like bylaws or agreements), and make sure we're doing things the right way as we grow. While we’ll still call on outside counsel when needed, having someone on the board with legal insight helps us move forward with confidence and care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance on contracts, compliance, and nonprofit governance

• Review bylaws, partnership agreements, and donation terms

• Offer internal legal perspective (not a replacement for outside counsel)

This is a great role for someone passionate about awareness, advocacy, and family-centered care. The Advocacy & Medical Partnerships Director helps guide how we educate the public and the medical community — from leading efforts during Trisomy Awareness Month to strengthening hospital and provider relationships. At a big-picture level, this role helps shift the narrative around Trisomy 13 and 18, amplifying stories of dignity, possibility, and love alongside medical knowledge. You’ll also help shape care resources and outreach that reflect both clinical expertise and lived experience.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Trisomy Awareness Month strategy (in partnership with Communications & Creative)

• Facilitate relationships with hospitals, providers, and medical advocates

• Inform education resources, care guides, and family support materials

• Contribute to long-term efforts to change how Trisomy 13 and 18 are understood and discussed in medical and public spaces

Love a good spreadsheet? The Treasurer helps keep The Stella Effect financially strong and transparent. You’ll work with the Board Chair to set our annual budget, provide quarterly updates to the board, and keep our records organized and accurate. You don’t have to be a CPA — just someone with financial experience who cares about responsible stewardship and is willing to guide us through the dollars and cents behind our mission.

• Provide quarterly financial reports to the board

• Oversee bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial compliance
