Help Us Grow the Impact of The Stella Effect

We have big dreams for the future — and we can’t get there without you. The Stella Effect is expanding our programs, outreach, and support for families, and we need more passionate individuals to help make it happen.

We’re looking for volunteers who are proactive and comfortable taking initiative, but who also check in with questions and updates along the way. Whether you bring a specialized skillset or simply a willingness to pitch in, you’ll play a valuable role in helping us grow.

  • Help us bring our fundraising and grant ideas to life! This includes launching campaigns like our “The ____ Effect” birthday fundraisers — creating the DonorBox fundraiser page, making a promotional graphic in Canva, posting it on social media, and updating our link in bio. This is an area where we’re really looking for someone to own the process long-term. We promise it’s not a huge commitment — but juggling it alongside everything else we do means it would make a huge difference to have a dedicated volunteer leading the way.

Other projects, like our “Meet the Campers” fundraiser for our annual CCK program, are more of a one-off, annual effort. And if you love writing, we’d also welcome support with grant applications — helping us research opportunities, draft proposals, and share the stories that bring our mission to life. Both ongoing and one-time fundraising or grant-writing support help fuel our mission and keep our programs thriving.

  • Work alongside our Communications & Creative Co-directors to develop new campaign ideas. You may collaborate with other directors — for example, advocacy for Trisomy Awareness Month or fundraising for special campaigns. We also welcome volunteers with an eye for design who can create occasional on-brand graphics to keep our outreach materials fresh and engaging. This role may also include posting on our social media accounts, designing our email newsletters, and brainstorming creative ways to grow our subscriber list.

  • Be a second set of hands to our Treasurer by helping with tasks like developing program budgets, supporting travel reimbursements, and assisting with other financial duties as needed. This role is flexible and helps ensure the workload is shared.

  • Make a personal connection in our community through meaningful touches:

    • Mother’s & Father’s Day cards — help prepare, stuff, and mail cards each year to parents in our community.

    • Angel baby birthday cards — work from a shared calendar to proactively prepare and mail cards on behalf of The Stella Effect each month.

  • Our Programs Volunteers help bring The Stella Effect’s mission to life by supporting meaningful experiences for families—whether through Camp Courageous Kids (CCK), retreats, or (eventually again!) birthday celebrations. While we’ve had to pause birthday celebrations recently due to limited resources, we hope to bring them back soon, and many of our other programs continue year-round. We’re looking for volunteers who are creative, organized, and proactive—people who can think big, take initiative, and enjoy coordinating details. This role may involve connecting with families to learn their vision, planning logistics, making calls to vendors, asking for in-kind donations, and pulling together all the moving parts that make these experiences special. Your efforts help create moments of joy, connection, and celebration for families who deserve it most.

  • We’re just beginning to grow our advocacy efforts and would love to know who feels called to be part of this. It might look like sharing a quote for a campaign, joining in an awareness initiative, or opening your heart to tell your family’s story. If you have interest in being involved as this takes shape, please let us know — your voice and experience are truly what bring meaning to this work.

  • The Pro Bono Legal Advisor supports The Stella Effect by providing as-needed guidance on matters that arise as we grow—such as reviewing policies and agreements, advising on risk management for events and programs, and ensuring we’re operating in compliance with relevant nonprofit and fundraising regulations. This volunteer partner is not a member of the Board but serves as a trusted resource we can consult for specific questions or initiatives, helping us plan confidently and responsibly as our organization expands.
